Not in the registry

The catalog lists the Kits in the registry. Some things this book talks about are not registered Kits, so they have no card. They are listed here so that nobody has to wonder why.

App Context Kit

  • Registered Kit: no, so it is not in the catalog
  • Source: not public yet

The App Context Kit is the root namespace for one running app: its identity, its folders for files and settings, test and scratch modes, a roster entry other apps can read, a session with a resource broker, and an opt-in way to find other copies of the app. The seven demo apps in this book are built on it (six are Flutter on a Dart core; notes_rust is a Flutter UI over a Rust core that shares the UI’s context through the Kit’s adopt API), and the demo apps guide measures what it saved and what it still leaves for an app to write. Its name is final, and it is a candidate for the registry rather than a member of it.

Its own reference documentation is pulled into this book from the Kit, at the commit this book pins (make docs-pull), so you can read it without access to the Kit’s repository. It is the only Kit pulled so far. Start at the reference index.

This book

This repository, kit-book, is the book, not a Kit. It has no card, it is not in the registry, and nothing depends on it.
