Status vocabulary
Every Kit card carries one status. The test for a status is evidence, not intent: what the repository holds today (code, tests, a published version), not what is planned.
stable
The API is frozen, with a versioning promise.
No Kit has this status today.
pre-release
Published, and depended on by products. The API is settling but not frozen.
Kits with this status: Fabric Kit, Message Kit.
alpha
Real code and tests exist, but the API is not stable. Expect it to change.
Kits with this status: Inference Kit, Manifest Kit, Spec Kit, Identity Kit, Service Kit, Storage Kit, Substrate Kit, Interface Kit, Venue Kit, Mold Kit, Stash Kit.
scaffold
A skeleton of code that nothing depends on yet.
No Kit has this status today.
design
A document. There is no code to speak of yet.
Kits with this status: Platform Kit, Device Kit, Score Kit, App Store Kit.
banked
Deliberately paused, together with the program it belonged to. Not abandoned, but not being worked on.
Kits with this status: Thunderhead Kit.
legacy
Archived or retired. Kept in the catalog for the record; do not build new things on it.
Kits with this status: Design Kit.
